Isazaly spearheads Kino-i Pictures, a digital production house in KL, into new media. He strongly believes that digital technology will be the next revolution in filmmaking in this new millennium. Isazaly’s in-depth research on ‘Digital Filmmaking’ since 1998 as Head of the Research & Development Department at Kino-i has been a key advantage in the company’s foothold in the demanding world of digital technology. Isazaly is also one of the co-founder of kino-i.
Isazaly or Zalee as he is best known, has been involved in film and television production in both Malaysia and Singapore. His journey into filmmaking is natural as Zalee, a child actor since the age of 10, practically grew up on production sets in Singapore. After completing his foundation studies in Product and Graphic Design at the La Salle College of Arts, he came to Malaysia to pursue filmmaking at Akademi Filem Malaysia. During this time, he was selected to represent the institute at the 7th Independent Du Film Festival held in Brussels, in 1997. He graduated from the institute with flying colors in 1999 while his graduation film project, entitled “Between Jasmine and His Deep Blue Sea” was awarded ‘Best Film Project’ by the KODAK Worldwide Student Program of Malaysia.
In May 2005, his ‘micromovie’ was among the 12 worldwide finalists to participate in St Kilda’s Film Festival in Melbourne, sponsored by Siemens Mobile Germany. He was also involved as a Technical Advisor in setting up FINASPost (FINAS Post-Production House) Non-Linear Editing System in 1996 with the very first SONY ES-7 Editing System in the region.. In mid 2003, he has been certified as Final Cut Pro Trainer by Apple Inc, up untill 2017.
In 2010, his 90 seconds shortfilm won the Grand Jury Prize, organized by British Council of Singapore and in that same year, he was commisioned a 3-minute exhibition video, entitled 'And The Games We Played', for the Malay Heritage of Singapore Museum, that potrays five “kampung games” played in super high-speed (slow-motion).
Zalee is currently endorsed as a Profesional-Tier in “Editing” by the Content Creative Industry Guild of Malaysia (CCIG) and also a National Certified Film/Video Editor by Malaysia’s Ministry Of Human Resource. In December 2017, Zalee and this team has won the Jury Class Award for “Best Short Documentary” for 'SPRAYED' at Hollywood Film Festival, where he was both Producer and Editor for a US based company in Florida, Future History Films Inc. 2018 marks another achievement, as he was appointed as a Certified Master Trainer for Blackmagic Design, for its' revolutionary post-production software DaVinci Resolve.
Why Eizo?
I have been working on digital films since 2000 and getting colour critical projects accurate, has truly been a nightmare. Nothing came out the way I wanted it to be. Too much trial and error till I got it right. I have been changing monitors and had to work on an old plasma display that had soon become obsolete. I had to either go to another post-house where they have expensive calibrated broadcast monitors to check my work or trust my gut feelings.
Ever since working on the EIZO CG319X, I have never looked back and have been working on it everyday. With its true 4K IPS Panel, my colours look exactly like how I or my clients wanted it, especially for 4K deliverables.
The built-in sensor probe and Color Management Software made my workflow much simpler without keeping tabs on when to conduct my next calibration. Now, with a special flight case, I personally made for the monitor, I can bring it along with me, wherever I will be conducting Davinci Resolve training in Malaysia or consulting for a Digital Image Technician workflow on-set, during principal photography.
